Windows 10 - Adding a Network Printer

Here on campus we manage our printers through Active Control Lists which allow users to access their network printers from any university owned machines they sign into.  To be added to an ACL for getting access to a specific printer, please see this service. Once you are in the ACL, and after a brief wait of 15-20 minutes, the printer should map automatically for you on your next log-in.  If it does not, follow these steps to see what printers you have access to, and to connect to them.

If you've been added to the print group, please follow these steps:

  1. Click the Windows Button in the bottom left corner, and search for Printers & Scanners.

  2. Select the Devices and printers link.

  3. Select the Add a printer option.

  4. Click on the link that says The printer I want wasn't listed.

  5. Be sure the button for Select a shared printer by name is selected, and type in: \\umd-ps1\
This will populate the drop-down menu as shown with your available printers. A list of available printer can be found on the UMD-PS1 Printer Shares page. Select the printer you want, and click on Next.

  6. From the Devices and printers page, you can right-click on whichever printer you would like your jobs to default too, and select Set as default printer.
