How can I secure my account with Duo 2-Factor Authentication?


Duo offers many options for two-factor authentication at U-M to meet different needs. We recommend that you enroll in a primary option plus a backup. Many people use the app on their smartphone as their primary method and enroll the landline at their desk as a backup.

  • App for your mobile device that offers a "push" notification or passcodes
  • Passcodes via text message
  • Phone call-back
  • Duo hardware tokens (will be available for purchase at the U-M Computer Showcase) 

At other universities where Duo is used, most people find push notification via the Mobile Duo App to be the most convenient option.
