How to setup Unity Voicemail.


Overview

Unity Voicemail is full service application that allows you to manage your Voicemail box using your phone or a browser on any networked computer. The phone voicemail system uses a PIN number. The Web-based voicemail system uses a password; however, if preferred, this password can be set to the same thing.


Solution

If you are accessing Unity Voicemail for the first time on a Phone.


  1. Press the messages button on the phone
  2. Select Option 2 for Visual Voicemail
  3. Enter your login credentials
        Note: The temporary PIN should have been emailed to you by ITS. If you do not have this information, please submit a "Voicemail Pin Reset" Request
  4. Follow the system instructions for the following:
    • Record your name
    • Set a new PIN
    • Record your greeting
    • Wait until you hear "You have finished enrollment" before hanging up the phone

You are now enrolled in Audio and Visual Voicemail

To sign in to Unity Voicemail Web Inbox: 


Note : The recommended browser to use is Firefox.

Ensure you're on the UM-D VPN to acess the voicemail site off-campus

1.     Use any supported web browser to connect to  https://cucdb1.umd.umich.edu/inbox/

2.     Type user name.

  •  Your User Name is your 10-digit phone number (no spaces or dashes)

3. Type the password

Note: The Cisco PCA Password is the Cisco Unity password you were assigned or the new password you selected at set up. The password could be different than your voicemail PIN. If have If you can't remember your password, please submit a "Voicemail Pin Reset" Request

How to set up voicemail forwarding to your email address:

  1. Login to the Cisco Unity Connection Web Inbox 

  2. Click on the Settings button

    •  

  3. Click on Notification Devices on the top menu, then View Notification Devices

  4. Click on the hyperlink in the Device column for HTML

  5. Mark the checkbox for Notification Enabled and fill in your email address

  6. Click Save

  7. Return to the View Notification Devices screen

  8. Repeat the process for the HTML Missed Call option in the Device column

NOTE:  You may leave other options on both of these pages as is.

NOTE:  You may leave “Allow voicemail as attachments” unchecked as this option is already set at the system level for all users.

How to Access Cisco Unity from a Non-University Number

 

1. Dial 313-583-6767  to access Cisco Unity Voicemail.

2. Select the asterisk (*) key once the Cisco Unity greeting starts.

3. Enter ID. This will be your 10-digit phone number.

4. Enter PIN. This will be your 6-digit identification number for accessing your mailbox on the phone.

 

If you would like to change the PIN

  1. Call and sign in to Cisco Unity Connection

  2. At the Main menu, select the "Setup Options"

  3. Select Preferences, and Password.

  4. Follow the prompts to enter and confirm a new PIN.

  5. If it doesn't work, please submit a "Voicemail Pin Reset" Request. Pleas include the full 10 digit number along with whether you want to reset the Unity Web Application, voicemail on their phone, or both.
