Enable Team Folders in Dropbox Sync

Problem/Question

  • How do I choose what folders appear in Dropbox Sync?
  • My Team Folders are not showing in Dropbox Sync

Overview

By default, Dropbox does not enable shared Team Folders from showing in the Dropbox Sync application. This helps to protect any sensitive university data from being synced to personal devices. Alternatively, you may find it more optimal to disable certain unnecessary folders from showing in Dropbox sync to help keep things more orderly.

Solution

Windows:

1) Search for "Dropbox" in the Windows search bar and open up the Dropbox application

2) Click the three lines (hamburger menu) in the top left corner of the desktop app.

3) Hover over File and select Preferences

4) Click the Sync tab and under Selective Sync, click Selective Sync...

5) Click the boxes beside the folders you would like synced to your desktop app and click Update

MacOS:

1) Click the Dropbox icon in your toolbar, then select Preferences

2) Select the Sync button

3) Choose what folders you would like to sync, then select Update
