Problem/Question
How do I request a Hard Token?
Overview
An Okta Hard Token is a physical security device used for multi-factor authentication (MFA). The token generates a unique verification code that can be used when signing in to University of Michigan services protected by Okta.
UM-Dearborn users are encouraged to use the Okta Verify mobile application whenever possible. However, hard tokens remain available for individuals who are unable to use a mobile device for authentication.
Okta Hard Tokens are available for purchase through the University of Michigan Tech Shop.
Solution
Okta Hard Tokens can be purchased through the University of Michigan Tech Shop:
Security Tokens (Tech Shop)
The Tech Shop website provides current pricing, availability, and ordering information for supported security tokens.
Recommended Alternative: Okta Verify
The recommended authentication method is the Okta Verify application, which provides secure push notifications and verification codes on a mobile device.
