How to Use Web Print

Problem/Question

How do I print from my personal device to the UPRINT printers?


Overview

Web Print is a service available for students, which will allow them to print from any computer with an internet browser to a UPrint printer using their allocated quota credits.

Black & Whitie Printing Option (can be released at any Release Station):

umd-ps2\uprint (virtual) :  prints a single-sided document to any UPrint B&W printer .

umd-ps2\uprint-duplex (virtual):  prints a double-sided document to any UPrint B&W printer.

 

Color Printing Options (MUST be released at the location of the Color Printer):

umd-ps2\HPEC1180_Color : Color printer in 1180 HPEC

umd-ps2\ML1070_Color : Color Printer in 1070 ML

umd-ps2\FCN138_color : Color Printer in 138 FCN


Solution

1. Log into your UPrint online account from any web browser with your Uniqname and UMICH password:  https://uprint.umd.umich.edu/user

2. Once logged in, click on Web Print and click on Submit a Job.

3. Select the location of where you would like the document printed.  For UPrint lab printers across campus, select one of the following and release at any release station:  

  • umd-ps2\uprint (virtual) :  prints a single-sided document to any UPrint B&W printer .
  • umd-ps2\uprint-duplex (virtual):  prints a double-sided document to any UPrint B&W printer.

Note: When you select either UPRINT or UPRINT-Duplex, you can release your print jobs at any Print Release Station on Campus

For printing in color, select  one of the following :

  • umd-ps2\uprint_Color : prints a single-sided document to any UPrint Color printer .
  • umd-ps2\uprint_Color_Duplex : prints a double-sided document to any UPrint Color printer.

NOTE: To print in color, you MUST go to the lab where a color printer is located to release your print out (each page/side is charged .30 cents). 

3. Once printer is selected, click on 2. Print Options and Account Selection

4. Change the number of copies if needed and click on 3. Upload Documents.

5.  Click on Upload from Computer and select the document on your computer you would like to print or use the drag-and-drop feature.  Multiple documents can be selected at one time by holding down the Shift key on your keyboard.

6. Once done, click Upload & Complete.

NOTE: Web Print will only allow the file types listed to be printed.  If you would like to print any other file type, it must first be converted to a PDF or Microsoft Office file type.

 

7. At this point, you will need to find a UPrint release station and printer.  They are located in all computer labs and many classrooms across campus.
