How do I start the UC4 Application?

Overview

UC4 is a job scheduling application that is used to automate Banner jobs, scripts, and many other processes. Authorized users will be able to log into the UC4 application to run jobs and processes.

As a preliminary step, users will need to have the university VPN enabled. Information on how to connect to the VPN is provided in the Additional Information section at the bottom of the article. Additionally, users will need to install the UC4 Client from the Software Center.

Alternatively, users can use MiDesktop to access UC4Accessing UC4 using MiDesktop

Solution

Note: Please make sure that you are connected to VPN

  1. From your Windows Start Menu, select Software Center.

  2. Locate UC4 Client in the Software Center and click the Install (This will take a few minutes to complete, please be patient).  There is one install for UC4 (production) and another install for UC4 Test, select whichever is needed.

  3. The install places a UC4 Client shortcut on your desktop, you can place it in  your menu or anywhere that is most convenient for you.  Double click on the shortcut to start UC4

  4. Select which environment you wish to use (Typically BANP, production) and enter your Umich credentials to log into UC4 (same as your email).   You only need to install the Client one time, then you just open from the shortcut for subsequent UC4 logins.

5.Login with your Uniqname and UMICH Password
Note: After you login, you will be prompted for DUO using your default DUO device.  If you receive DUO push notifications, you may have to open your phone and open DUO in order to see the notification.  If you do not complete your DUO authentication, the login will fail.
