As a University of Michigan-Dearborn student, what are some of the services or resources I have access to or are provided to me?


Overview

Active students at UM-Dearborn receive access to various resources.

Not all resources will be available for Alumni. For a comprehensive list of what Alumni retain (and lose) access to, please see this guide.


Campus Services

  • My UM-Dearborn Portal
    • UM-Dearborn's Student Information System. Update emergency contact information, register for classes, pay tuition, check transcripts or financial aid - all in one place!
    • Portal access is only available for currently enrolled or eligible to enroll students. Many services (registration, financial, and records) are available on the Students business page.
  • Canvas
    • UM-Dearborn's home for all online courses, as well as some assignments, discussions, and resources for hybrid and on-campus classes.
    • Wondering if Canvas is experiencing an outage or service degradation? Check the Instructure Status page to see if all systems are operational. 
  • MWireless
    • MWireless is the secure and encrypted Wi-Fi network on the UM-Ann Arbor and Dearborn campuses. Get connected with MSetup!
  • Duo Two-Factor Authentication
    • Required for all faculty, staff, and students for all Weblogin services, such as accessing your @umich.edu email, Wolverine Access, UM-Dearborn Connect, or Canvas.

    • Duo can also be used with other websites and services that support two-factor authentication, such as Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, Snapchat, or PayPal. Learn more at Two Factor Auth.
  • AppsAnywhere
    • Stream various applications easily and quickly on campus lab PCs.

  • MiDesktop
  • GlobalProtect VPN
    • Access secure UM-Dearborn resources, such as library databases, while off-campus.
    • Learn how to install and use the GlobalProtect VPN client with our Knowledge Base category on the topic - VPN.
  • U-M Tech Shop
    • Tech Shop provides sales, service and support of personal technology to University of Michigan students, faculty, staff, and alumni. This includes special education pricing and products can be shipped to your home.
    • Additionally, students can use OnTheHub to receive a license for Windows 10 for free.
      • Students will need to create an account using their @umich.edu email address in order to access this.

Collaboration, Storage, and Conferencing

  • M+Google
    • U-M Google is a G Suite for Education software bundle that provides the core apps of Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Sites, Docs, Slides, Sheets, Classroom, and Chat. It includes over 40 other apps designed to improve collaboration.
    • Get started with your @umich.edu email address by going to mail.umich.edu and logging in with your uniqname/password.
  • Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Dropbox at U-M
    • 5 TB of cloud file storage that provides automatic back-up and is readily accessible from any device. Share and collaborate files, make use of version history, sync between different computers, and more.

  • Microsoft Office 365
    • Students are able to use the Microsoft Office 365 suite for their personal devices, which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote.

  • Zoom at U-M
    • Zoom unifies cloud video conferencing, simple online meetings, group messaging, and provides the option for meeting recordings. It offers high quality video, audio, and wireless screen-sharing.

Learning and Professional Development

  • New York Times and Wall Street Journal
    • The Mardigian Library, in collaboration with the Chancellor's Office, are providing complimentary access to both the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal. Sign up using the links above to have full access to both newspapers.
  • Qualtrics
    • Qualtrics is a survey creation suite with storage and analysis tools for research, coursework, form creation, and more.

  • LinkedIn Learning
    • LinkedIn Learning is a leading online-learning platform that helps anyone learn business, software, technology, and creative skills to achieve personal and professional goals. Members have access to the LinkedIn Learning video library of over 15,000 engaging, top-quality, on-demand courses taught by recognized industry experts. Members can also connect their LinkedIn Learning history to their LinkedIn account for a more personalized learning experience.
  • Library Articles, Journals, and Databases
    • Through the Mardigan Library, students have access to various scholarly resources. This ranges from databases, journals, and books.
    • Accessing these resources while off-campus may require the VPN.

ITS Service Desk

The ITS Service Desk is the first point of contact for service and support, providing front-line assistance for all technology needs for both administrative and academic areas across campus. Have questions or need assistance with campus IT services? Reach out to us!
