Getting Access to Qualtrics

Problem/Question

Getting Started with Qualtrics

Overview

Qualtrics is a generalized survey service permitting the creation of survey instruments, distribution of the surveys, data storage and analysis. It now is available for free to all University of Michigan campuses and units.

Solution

Qualtrics is an online survey platform and tool with features including survey creation, distribution, analysis, and storage.

Getting Started with Qualtrics

  • Log into the U-M Qualtrics Survey instance:
    • All U-M faculty, staff, students, and sponsored affiliates have free access to the Qualtrics Survey platform
      • Your account will be created the first time you use your UMICH (Level-1) login credentials through the U-M Qualtrics portal:  https://umich.qualtrics.com/
      • NOTE: Going to login.qualtrics.com will NOT log you into the full-featured U-M instance
    • Our campus agreement does not cover a casual non-coursework survey or a project for a non-U-M organization or private business
    • Due to UM policies listed here and the terms of our Qualtrics Academic Site License, we can not create "group accounts" or "generic accounts" for multiple people to share
      • University Qualtrics Administrators can create Groups (for multiple users) and Divisions (for an entire unit) to help organize multiple accounts and make sharing of resources easier
