Question
How do I access my Canvas Courses? What can I do if my Canvas courses aren't listed on the Dashboard?
Overview
Canvas is UM-Dearborn's Learning Management System, used for accessing course content. You're able to view assignments, resources, discussions, and announcements relevant to the classes you're taking.
Solution
1. Sign into the UM-Dearborn instance of Canvas at https://canvas.umd.umich.edu/ with your Uniqname and Kerberos password.
2. Your current courses (within the term) will appear on the Dashboard. This also includes notifications, announcements, and upcoming assignments.
a. If you've just registered for your courses, it may take up to 24 hours for it to be visible in Canvas. Additionally, if you are a newly admitted student - it may take up to 7 days for your account's information to populate between all UM-Dearborn systems.
b. Some courses may not be published and viewable until the semester starts - this is up to your instructor's discretion. Once the semester officially starts, all courses are made published.
3. Nothing showing up or looking for a course that ended? Click on Courses in the left menu, then All Courses to see all of the courses you've taken at UM-Dearborn.
4. Under All Courses, the current semester's courses are automatically favorited, which is denoted with the star icon - If they're missing, you can favorite them here and they'll show up on your Dashboard again.
