Exporting Private Password Lists

  1. Log in to the PasswordState Website
  2. Navigate to the Private Password list you want to export
  3. Within the "List Administrator Actions" drop down, Select the "All Passwords Report" in the  Export  section:
  4. Create a password to protect your ZIP file. then select Run Report:

    The system will then ask you to save the export file to your computer. Remember where you saved it.
    Note: The file is exported as a Password-Protected ZIP File. You will need a program that understands password protected ZIP files, like 7ZIP, to open the password export file in the ZIP
  5. Extract the Password list from the ZIP file using the password you just set

You now have your exported passwords. Remember these are sitting in plain text on your device. Be sure to securely delete the export file when you're done working with it.

Importing Passwords from a list

  1. Log in to the PasswordState Server you want to Import your passwords into
  2. Right click on "Passwords Home" and select "Add Private Password List"
  3. Create  the new private password list as the same type/template as the one you're importing from
    NOTE: All fields must match when creating in order for importing to work
  4. Once the list is created, go to the left side bar, and select Tools-> Import Passwords
  5. On the Select Import Type step, Select "CSV File Into Single Password List"
  6. In the "Instructions" step, Select your new private password list by typing the first few letters, then selecting it from the drop down.
    The box will then display the columns, and the data format needed for importing. You can double check that your export meets this by exporting a CSV template, and checking that the fields are in the right order. You can also manually copy/paste data into the template if you need to adjust it. Then select Next.
  7. On the "Import Data" step, use the Select button to browse your computer for your password export file. Once selected, it will upload and automatically check that the data in the export can be properly imported. If you get the green light, click on "Import Passwords" to begin importing the data"
  8. The screen will automatically move to the "Results" step, and let you know how many passwords were successfully imported:
