How do I clear my browser cookies and cache?
Overview
Sometimes issues logging into websites can be solved by clearing the cookies and cache. It is a quick and easy fix, and anyone can do it!
Solution
Note: Before you clear cache and cookies, please be aware that:
- Some settings on sites get deleted. For example, if you were signed in, you’ll need to sign in again.
- Some sites can seem slower because content, like images, needs to load again.

Google Chrome:
Note: You can press Ctrl + Shift + Delete and skip to step 3 (or Cmd + Shift + Delete on a Mac).
1. Click on the settings icon that appears to the upper right corner of the browser.
2. Select More tools > Clear browsing data.
3. Make sure the following are checked:
- Cookies and other site data
- Cached images and files
4. Select All time in the Time range drop-down menu and click on CLEAR DATA.
Firefox:
Note: You can press Ctrl + Shift + Delete and skip to step 3 (or Cmd + Shift + Delete on a Mac).
1. Click on the menu button that appears to the upper right corner of the browser.
2. Select History.
3. Select Clear Recent History.
3. Under Details make sure the following are checked:
- Cookies
- Cache
- Active Logins
4. Select Everything in the Time range to clear drop-down menu and click on Clear Now.
Safari:
1. Click on Safari and then Preferences.
2. Click on Privacy and then click Manage Website Data.
3. Click Remove All.
4. Click Remove Now.
Edge
Clear cache and cookies
- Click the Menu icon at the top-right corner of the screen, then click Settings.
- Click on Privacy, search, and services from the list of options on the left-hand side under Settings.
- Scroll down to Clear browsing data and click the Choose what to clear button.
- Change the Time range at the top to All Time and check the boxes next to Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files. Then, click Clear now.
