How do I get a free version of Microsoft Office?
Overview
U-M Microsoft Office 365 is available for free to current University of Michigan faculty, staff, students, and emeritus with regular (not temporary) uniqnames. Alumni and retirees are not included in our license with Microsoft. Sponsored affiliates can only use the Web-app versions. You may install this software on up to five computers (PC or Mac) and five mobile devices (iOS, Android, and Windows Mobile). Access is tied to your UMICH email address and password.

Additionally, the online version of Office 365 Education can be used on an unlimited number of devices.
Depending upon your continuing affiliation with the university, you may lose access to Office 365 (offer is only available to current faculty, staff and students). Your eligibility can be re-verified at any time. When your Office 365 for Education plan expires:
- The Office applications enter a reduced-functionality mode, which means that you can view documents, but you cannot edit or create new documents.
- Online services associated with your email address - for example, Office Online and OneDrive - will no longer work.
